One of the most think I love is being active outdoor. For several years, me and my boyfriend instead of going to a dinner on our anniversary we would go and do something cool. Whether it was climbing trees in a specially prepared for it forrest, or indoor skydiving (still way to scared for the real one) or quad biking. We also went skiing few years ago.
If you asking me if i love skiing I have to be honest. I am a complete beginner. I wanted to get a little throw back time and show you my skiing experience and show you a bit of Zakopane.
There are so many amazing places in Europe but we have decided to go skiing in Europe and chosen Zakopane as our place. Zakopane is located in southern Poland, within the Tatra Mountains. We flew to Wroclaw and as my home city is on the way we stayed at home for a few days ad took the train (around 8 hours!) Zakopane is amazing, but if you looking to stay longer as the closest airport is Krakow around 3h so perhaps you may also check the ski resorts with really fast airport transfer if you only planning to Europe skiing just for a weekend.
Our accommodation was the price of a lager in the UK. This was thanks to my mum connections and friends, as someone had a spare room that we could use and it was right in the heart of Zakopane. The accommodation was beautiful. It was an old wooden house, with stairs up so we could see the Zakopane main street called Krupówki.
Kropowki it’s a busy street of Zakopane with markets where they sell souvenirs, oscypek (best-smoked cheese in the world) and you can buy wool jumpers, cosy slipper and fur rugs. Kropowki is also packed with bars and restaurant where you can taste Polish food like roast lamb, pierogi, goulash or drink the mountaineer’s vodka. We call the mountaineer Gorale! It’s amazing how you can learn the culture by sipping homemade mulled wine in a cosy bar with a fireplace while watching the traditional style dancers and singers. You can also get the most amazing (although pricey) breakfast outdoor while watching mountains in the morning. Definitely worthy to try.
So, let’s jump into skiing experience. I never had ski’s on my feet before, so as you can guess I wasn’t good at it at all. It’s embarrassing to admit, but I used kids slopes. Yes, me in between the little children. Once I got little braver, I decided to try the ‘’adult’ slope. We took the ski downhill lift to the popular slope called Szymoszkowa Ski Centre as they have a bar on top 😉 main reason of course. Once we got there, I ordered popular tea with rum to get a little braver and warm up, but also to enjoy the amazing view from the top of the hill. It was fantastic.
The funny part is when I suddenly got a panic attack in the middle of a busy slope and started crying like a little girl! My goggles were full of my tears. my friends and my boyfriends tried really hard not to laugh at me and encourage me to stand up, but they couldn’t so they were laughing their head off while I was sitting and crying. Quite amusing view. I managed to get my myself together and slide down but after that I need a 3 x mulled wines.
The next day I picked up and started doing it properly and really enjoying toward the end but the slope experience was really embarrassing, yet funny to get back to. Bear in mind I was a super adulating 28 years old crying on slope haha.
I really want to go back, but perhaps somewhere else and try again. I love snow and you can read me why I want to to go Island post as well.
Pictures were taken before I dyed my hair pink 🙂

So funny to see you blonde Anna! It looks pretty, but I think the pink is so perfectly you!
Don’t worry – I too have had the scared-crying on the mountainside experience too – all my friends were amazing skiiers and I was a beginner and well, they took me on a black! I thought I would die!! Spoiler alert: I didn’t, but I did get very embarrassed and then refused to ski with them the next day! Once I took it at my own pace on easier slopes I started to really enjoy it but I did have a whisky for breakfast that day – it helped! I hope to go again in the next few years with my husband and our little one – I am still gonna be useless, but who cares, it’s great fun! xx

I’ve never skiied before, well not properly anyway! You make it look like so much fun! x

Skiing is not for me. I’m too much of a coward, but I love being outdoors and I’m happy to walk most places.

I wish I had gone here when I was in Poland. It looks beautiful. I haven’t skied before and I think I would be like you! Hope you get the chance to go back one day.

Looks like you had a lovely time, apart from the panic attack mid slope.
