I have been watching recently my blogger friends travelling to some fancy destinations like Paris, Milan or New York, however, my heart is settled into a slightly different experience this time. Despite, that as addicted Instagrammer I would love that famous background snap but as a designer and a creative soul, my heart just sunk to see Iceland this year.
Recently a blogger friend of my mine, Holly, posted about Iceland and I completely fell in love with this place. Holly’s boyfriend Graham surprised her with this trip and organised everything. How nice of him? Holly shared 3 posts about Iceland including where to stay, where to eat and even what to wear. Check out Holly Travel tips for Iceland post.
After Holly’s post, I came across Victoria’s post from InTheThrow Iceland in 4 days and literally, this was the final ‘’I must do it’ call. Victoria’s boyfriend perfectly captured the place and she wrote a small guide as well to where to eat and what to visit.
I have grown up in place when during winter, we had heavy snow falls and walking through snow to your knees was kind of normal (and fun!) Now, I live in Manchester and first snow in 2 years I have seen for a 5min 2 days ago ( after that everything melted). I miss the cold weather, I miss wearing a scarf and a cold nose. I know it may sound strange, but when you grow to have a decent winter once every several months it’s a part of your life.
Of course, snow it’s not only the reason why I want to go to Iceland. There is actually multiple reasons for it and of course, heavily inspired by the girl’s trips; I want to now go there myself.
Blue Lagoon. First, I came across Blue Lagoon Spa on someone’s Instagram and I have blown away. The closest similar thing I did, was an open swimming pool in winter in Bath, but you can’t compare these two. However, I enjoyed it so much that I know now, that being able to experience Blue Lagoon would just unforgettable. I’ve seen people scraping white algae masks and swimming wth drinks in the blue waters. The is definitely something I really want to do.
Design Week. Especially now in March, there is loads of exhibitions, workshops and design event across Reykjavík and as an interior designer and fashionista in my heart, this is definitely something I want to see. I really try to visit exhibitions as you can see my Spring Fair or even writing myself guides of trade and exhibition shows across the UK. Check out for more info at designmarch.is
Fashion Week. As well as attending London Fashion Week, attending RFF ( REYKJAVIK FASHION FESTIVAL) is what every fashion blogger should do at least once in life. Imagine the Icelandic fashion design world and inspirations for the collections? This would be a truly amazing experience too.
Snæfellsnes peninsula. Another place I want to visit while in Iceland is the Snæfellsnes peninsula and the Westfjords of Iceland. I really want to explore and see the volcano, mineral springs or the golden and pink beaches. There is so much to see and explore and I can’t wait to see the beautiful villages, lava fields and gorges surrounded by stunning scenery.
Waterfall Gulfos. This was highly recommended by Holly in her travel blog as well as the biggest Geyser. Holly images are just beautiful. The whole scenery and what nature has to offer is just simply stunning.
Reykjavík city. This is an obvious one, of course, but after seeing beautiful photos of the Hallgrimskirkja church, I really want to see it myself. The architecture of the building it’s just immaculate and I really want to see the building from inside as well. I always had a strong passion for architecture and I love exploring buildings. The church has been designed by Guðjón Samuel in 1937 and his inspirations come from all shapes and forms based on lava cools into basalt rock.
Northern Lights. Obviously. You know I love my pink feed and it’s not just about the shade of pink you can discover with northern lights. I have been reading extensively about the best time and locations to see the extraordinary earth feature. The best time recommended it’s late November to late February, so basically when the nights are the darkest, so winter nights. Some travel bloggers recommend to take a self-drive tour however because of the light pollution, it’s safer to take part in a guided tour where you stay out of the pollution.
Food. I am a sucker for a good food and wine. I heard so much about the Icelandic kitchen and I really want to try it. We used to eat a lot out and I and my boyfriend worked in a hospitality. industry for years, exploring the Reykjavík restaurants but also small villages and cafes food, is something that I am really looking forward too.
I am hoping to get such a surprise as Holly or Victoria’s brother but I know we simply can’t afford such a surprises so for us is a carefully planning and saving. I am not sure if we are able to go this year or next year but this is definitely on my list as well as Portugal. I am currently writing a post as well why I want to go there so you can see how important these two places are to me.

Iceland seems to have so much to offer, and typically one wouldn’t think of it as a tourist destination. It looks amazing and is on my travel bucket list! Hopefully I get there sooner rather than later.

I think I’d much rather go to Iceland than Paris or Milan, but I’ve been to both those places already. The scenery in Iceland is so stunning.
