Perhaps, you remember my trip with Command Brand earlier this year and my most read post, Romantic pink bedroom for renters and students. So, it’s time to reveal part 2 of the office inspirations for renters and students. As I became an ambassador for the brand, I have been using 3M products throughout the year.
If you are not aware of Command Brand also known as 3M, they are the leading provider of hooks, picture hangers and many products that allow you to decorate your home without losing deposits or damaging walls, as it’s easily removable.

There is nothing more frustrating than renting a flat or student accommodation and not being able to personalise it. We now live with Primark homedecor, cute accessories from Homesense and affordable artwork like Desenio and it’s super hard to just keep ignoring these. For years I’ve been renting plain white walls and lived with cushions and throws only. I think it’s time to stop that and show the world how to fight it;) To the rescue come Command Brand products.
So, for my home office inspiration, I have styled it with a Scandinavian style but with renters and students in mind. Everything in the pictures is hung with 3M damage-free hooks and strips. I have also discovered that they have far more products than just picture frame strips and it’s definitely worth having a little browse through their website as you can find anything from cute pink hooks to ceiling hanging hooks.
I wanted to share few tips with you to personalise your home office space as it may sound easy, believe me I had few people asking me how to do it properly. Most people will buy desk, chair and maybe shelf or storage add some books and they are then stuck as they don’t know where to then go, so here are few tips to style your desk.
instagrammable desk tips
1 desk lamp – Start with choosing a desk lamp that is not only pretty but also functional. I have 2 functions in mind, first is the bulb strength and colour. This all depends on the type of work and tasks you will do within your desk space. You will need cool white light if you are a blogger, photographer or any creative person who need to take pictures occasionally for your work whether for assignments or social media as this will give you nice neutral background. Go for LED light in this instance and give up some energy. For any other tasks you’ll be good with a traditional yellow bulb but just bear in mind that for night shots they may become slightly dark for Instagram shots. Choose the colour of the lamp to be within the colour range of your accessories. If you are in love with Rose Gold like me, then go for rose gold frames or add a bit of statement colour like pink or blue. Keep in mind the size as unless you’re a fan of big anglepoise lamps, then you don’t want the lamp to overpower rest of your workstation features.
3 desk storage – You will need some sort of shelf as well, as there are always those small bits hanging around like washi tapes, paper clips etc. I have chosen to keep a house shaped shelf as I thought it adds a little personality to space. You can also opt for decorative boxes. Attach them to walls by 3M strips. Quick and easy!
5 personalise – Your walls this is the crucial part. You can buy ready display boards, wire boards or cork boards and stick your most fun polaroids, pictures and memorable items as well as create your own moodboard with pieces of magazine cut outs, beautiful pictures prints outs, or small pieces of flowers. Keep it simple and check Pinterest for ideas to create your moodboard ( or I may do post on that) I have used Command Brand tiny hooks to create this cheap and easy string board, as I find the wire ones way too expensive. A few paper clips, my favourite instax’s and it’s done.
6 artwork – You can either DIY your artwork or buy ready-made, but you do need some sort of artwork. I have created very simple and cost effective artwork by using card holders, pieces of wallpaper and washi tape and finished by adding some decorative flowers. You can and must add some typography prints, the cheesiest text on it is the most effective 😉 you can use plenty of Command Brand products to display these including their clips.
7 hanged flowers – There is no must for this one but it will add perfect effect to your desk plus bring the outdoors indoor is the big thing these days as this is where you should calm and concentrate. I have opted for Primark faux flowers, as I am serial plant killer so it had to be done.
