January and February are still full of the cosy period in my home. The hygge style, warm textures like merino wool blankets and faux fur are featured all on my Instagram and blog. This year, just to make things even better, I have a new addition, woven platted wool rug to make my home cosy this winter.
I always loved decorating with textures and adding that little special touches into my home. Decorating rented apartment can be very tricky, as we can’t always do what we would wish to. Most landlords will put a special clause in our contract where you can’t hang any pictures frames or repaint the apartment. You often live with landlord furniture as well. This is why adding textures and new furniture that are yours are your best bet. I wanted to show you here how you can make your home cosier without spending a fortune.
My new platted wool rug from Frith Rugs, is just what everyone wants who uses the word Hygge in their homes. The hand-knotted platted design made out of 100% wool comes with various sizes and 3 colour options. I am obsessed with it, as it reminds me the very trendy merino wool blankets. With the difference that is settled just on your floor and without that delicate merino wool piling!
the order experience
Maybe I will start with the experience from Frith Rugs as I believe this is very important, as well as quality. Frith Rugs has own stores in many cities like Warrington ( close to Manchester) but also Isle of Man, Bristol just to name few but you can easily and fast order online. This is how I did it.
The delivery was really quick and it arrived well packed and waterproofed but without unimportant over plastic usage. Just enough packaging. Me being really into sustainability I really pay attention to brands who care too. The rug was heavyish, but not too heavy and I could easily place it at home myself.
the first impression
After unpacking and placing it around, I noticed that the rug is quite firm and stable yet soft under feet. I was worry it will be too soft ( with plat like this, it would mean this would really start pilling and my cats would destroy it completely!)
I have hairpin style legs of my stool and coffee table which means, it could get attached to it and also damage it, but having now the rug for a couple of weeks I noticed it’s really firm and plat is very strong so it doesn’t show any signs of damage whatsoever and I very doubt it will.
I am purposely mentioning this, as anyone who owns platted wool jumper or blanket, will know how easily is to pull string or get piling on it if not look after carefully and having rug with this design this could worry many.
the design
The design gives super cosy impression on the floor, even mixed up with my carpet! Yes, I have the rug on the carpet and I’m breaking all the trendy books rules. I have holes in my windows which means is often quite cold at home, and having that extra texture on the floor gives me extra warmth, and this is also one of my home hacks!
My home is with Scandi vibes, pastel pink and copper colours, while mixed with grey sofa this rug being few shed lighter than my sofa, brings really lovely contrast and evokes warmth and lightly graded neutral colour palette.
Currently, this rug is discounted so don’t forget to check the prices!
- I received the rug to give you all my honest opinion about it but as you can see, this was easyyy!

Your photos are stunning. I have only recently become obsessed with throws and blankets, but I totally love this rug. How stunning. I love the merino style blankets and this complements those perfectly xx
