Make a Festive Autumnal Wreath
A wreath is one of the simplest ways to transform your home, and if well-designed it can help add personality to your front door, mantel or window. Autumn is an especially fun time for crafting wreathes thanks to all the seasonal textures and colours that are on offer, such as leaves, wheat, berries, burlap and much more. If you’d like some inspiration take a look at some of these easy to follow DIY wreathes, we’re sure one of them is bound to take your fancy.
Knit a Hat, Scarf or Gloves
Autumn is fantastic time to be knitting things that are comfy and warm, just in time to be worn for the colder months to come. As well as being a good way to make handmade clothes, knitting has also been recognised as a form of therapy and has been known to help combat mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. We recommend, if this is your first knitting project, to start simple with something like a scarf and then build-up to bigger projects when you’ve got the hang of it. This is also a useful skill to learn with Christmas around the corner, as you could repurpose your creations into gifts for loved ones.
Create a Photo Collage of All Your Autumn Memories
Picture frames are a great way to show off your memories, but constantly buying them can get expensive. Making them rather than buying them is a much more sustainable and affordable way to get a nice frame that fits your picture perfectly. You could do this with construction paper and wooden dowels, or you could use twigs for an autumnal twist, or by dismantling a canvas, or you could make one completely from scratch out of pine. If you’re planning to use the latter material we recommend checking out Make Wood Good, as they supply various different, helpful products designed for wood products which can protect and help preserve your creation.
Autumnal Themed Mason Jar Vases
Create your own DIY Mason jar vases, perfect for autumnal tabletop decoration. All you need for this project is some white spray paint with black lettering. Afterwards fill them with sunflowers or any other autumnal flower, then decorate with string around the top and you’re all set. We think that the rustic look really sets them apart, and that they’d make a great addition to your Autumn decorations.
